Founded as a winery in 1858, La Vis become a cooperative in 1948 and currently has in excess of 1,300 members controlling approximately 1,400 hectares of vineyards. La Vis is located in Trentino (Alto Adige) in the township of Lavis, near Trento. The production area consists of vineyards in Valle dell'Adige, extending up to the hills of Lavis, Sorni and Meano and to the typical terraces at the start of the Valle di Cembra. It also includes the South Tyrol areas of Pochi and Salorno, Isera in Vallagarina. Vineyards are at an altitude of between 200 and 800 metres above sea level, with 80% being on hillsides and 20% on the valley floor.
